Rome. Is SO COOL. Taylor was wayy excited for Rome. He loves Roman history and the movie Gladiator so he’s been wanting to come visit ever since I went in high school and sent him pictures during my trip! The ruins are insane and it is the coolest thing to be able to walk through ancient Rome. The ruins have been so well preserved and you can just imagine what a flourishing city Rome was back in those days! The way they built things was just so beautiful.
The Amalfi coast is one of my favorite destinations in the whole world, and it’s a place I know we will keep coming back to. The prettiest little towns are built right on the cliffs leading down to the water. The pictures with the pretty view of the town on the cliffs were taken over looking Positano. We walked all the way down to the water and it was quite a hike! I can’t imagine hiking up and down those cliffs all the time; the people that live there must be in wayyy better shape than I am.
We also spent some time in Sorrento, which is a town that looks over the gulf of Naples. If you look at the pictures with me in the blue shirt overlooking the water, you can see Mt. Vesuvius in the background. That is the volcano that erupted and covered Pompeii in ash in 79 AD. We walked through the streets of Pompeii and I didn’t get very many pictures because we were just so in awe, taking it all in. It’s incredible how well preserved the city is. You can still see paintings on the walls in some of the houses, it was amazing! Definitely a must see if you are in Southern Italy!
