If there was ever a town where fairytales could exist, I swear it’s Rothenburg! Candy colored houses and little old churches and clocks and bell towers and old stone walls…all of it. I’ve been to some beautiful little towns, and none of them can beat this one. It was so charming! We spent the day here, walking around and exploring. There is a main street that goes through the center of the town with lots of fun shops, and delicious bakeries. I had the best iced chocolate of my life at a chocolate store on that street, SO GOOD!! Also sorry that all I talk about is food but it’s my fav thing.
We got up really early and went out (one of my favorite things about jetlag, you have no choice but to get up early), so the streets were completely deserted and it felt like we had the town to ourselves. It was really nice just to be able to explore on our own for awhile, and the town is so beautiful that there was another picture opportunity around every corner. Taking pictures is an important part of the experience of traveling for us – we love creating art and capturing memories of the wonderful places we go. Ever since we got into photography, we look at the world a little bit differently. It has helped me to appreciate things like sunsets and beautiful buildings in a way I never did before.
Anyways Rothenburg, it was a dream. PLEASE GO. I can’t imagine a more perfect first taste of Germany, and we are completely hooked! I can only just imagine how amazing Christmas time must be in this town – we will definitely be back to experience it!
